Our SEK-Catalunya School appears in the ranking of Best School Educational Advisers among the top-15 IB schools in Spain (see schools from Spain list at the end of this post). This ranking is established by the evaluation of the grades obtained by the IB Diploma Program High School students. And we also are among the best 55 European IB schools.

We are very happy that the great education with which our students leave our DP classrooms successfully enables them to apply and access the best Universities in the world. We appreciate the recognition granted by this pretigious organisation.

Our average grade for the last promotion was: 35.7 out of 45.

We vividly encourage our well prepared DP-students of the current year to repeat this achievement or even improve it!

Malia Mpondo received scholarship offers from the NCAA

Growing up I can remember watching my dad play basketball. I grew up in this world. When I was 11, I started playing basketball seriously: I had practices 4 times a week, plus games on weekend. My individual basketball skills were increasing day by day, and so the coaches decided to make me play with the older kids so I could learn more and continue improving my skills. By the age of 14 I got selected to play with the national Swiss team of basketball; where I had the opportunity to participate in my first European Championship. Already in my second year of European Championship, I was nominated the most “efficient” player (according to Fiba’s statistics). In 2020, a professional basketball team in Spain asked me to come join their team, which I thought was a great opportunity for me. So, I decided to leave Switzerland and my whole family to come live here in Spain by myself for basketball. Thanks to the European Championship and the videos of my games with my new team, many universities were able to watch me play. I quickly received many messages from different university asking me if I was interested to go play in America. From there on, I had many video calls with different university saying that they would be interested in me coming to play for their teams and received full ride scholarship offers from different universities.

Workshop about how to perform a good “Personal Statement”

«The personal statement is a challenge faced by all of us who wish to study in the UK. We have always been told of its importance, of its difficulty in having to describe your whole person, your whole life of 17 years in only 4000 characters. It is, therefore, crucial to approach it in the best way possible. During today’s talk, given by our counsellor Sergio Jimenez and our teacher David Delgado, we have been able to understand the key to the success of a good personal statement. It was not only the theoretical explanation that helped us enormously, but also the exemplification of this theory.

In a nutshell, the personal statement has to be groundbreaking, a true reflection of your personality and ambition.

It is now our turn to start the arduous job of writing our own.»
